Waterproof corrugated cardboard is a general term for corrugated cardboard, which has the strength to resist water damage to corrugated cardboard boxes. According to its water resistance, it can be divided into three types:

1. Waterproof corrugated paperboard-means that when it is affected by water in a short time, the surface of the corrugated paperboard after processing will condense water into water droplets and splash to prevent water from penetrating.

2. Hydrophobic corrugated paper is usually used for packaging of vegetables, fruits and aquatic products. According to packaging and distribution conditions, it is divided into two types: the hydrophobicity of the surface and interior of corrugated boxes and the hydrophobicity of only the surface of corrugated boxes.

In the manufacturing process of hydrophobic corrugated cardboard, in order to improve the water resistance of the base paper during the papermaking process, a water-repellent agent for papermaking is added to the pulp or the surface thereof is sized to impart water resistance to the base paper. Generally, when paperboard is produced in a paper mill, a paper repellent is coated on the surface of the calender of a paper machine and coated. In the manufacture of corrugated cardboard, the corrugated cardboard machine also has a paper coating waterproof coating of a roll coater, or a paper spraying waterproof agent is sprayed on the surface of the cardboard with a spraying device.
Water-resistant corrugated cardboard-Also known as water-resistant corrugated cardboard, this cardboard is in contact with water for a long time and basically does not allow water to pass through. This corrugated cardboard is usually used for packaging aquatic products. In addition to being used for waterproofing, corrugated cardboard is sometimes used for furniture that is easily damaged because of its waterproof layer on the surface.
The manufacturing process of water-resistant corrugated cardboard is to apply water-resistant and water-resistant coating on the surface of the paper by spraying or roller coating in the process of corrugated cardboard bonding, so that the cardboard has good water resistance.
